CRANIOSACRAL FASCIAL THERAPY (CFT)
Craniosacral Fascial Therapy is a very gentle, natural approach with powerful therapeutic effects. It is based on Dr. Barry Gillespie's theory that the Craniosacral and Fascial systems are not separate but one interconnected system. CFT blends the two established modalities of Dr. William Sutherland's Cranial Sacral Therapy and John Barnes' Myofascial Release, along with dental techniques developed from Dr. Gillespie's experience as a periodontist. From the beginning, positioning in utero and the birth process can affect the body’s alignment. Fascial tension is a negative but common outcome and can continue through toddlerhood, early childhood, and adulthood. CFT helps with aligning the body structurally with gentle, infant driven movement that loosens up the body’s fascia. This allows all of the systems of the body to function properly. From a feeding perspective, CFT can assist with decreasing global body tension which leads to optimal oral abilities, leading to more safe and functional feeding, digestion, and sleeping.
